Google Search Console

Connect your Search Console property to build prompts from the questions you already appear for.

The hardest part of setting up AI visibility tracking is deciding which questions to track. Search Console already knows: it holds the queries that bring people to your site. Connecting it turns that history into prompt candidates.

Connecting

  1. Open Settings → GSC.
  2. Choose Connect and sign in with the Google account that has access to your property.
  3. Grant read access when Google asks.
  4. Pick the property matching the brand you are configuring.

The connection is read-only — AgentMention reads query data and never writes to your property.

What it is used for

Prompt discovery. Your queries become prompt candidates, so your tracked set starts from demand you have evidence for rather than from guesswork. You review and edit every candidate before it becomes a prompt — see Prompts tab.

Grounding the prompt set in reality. Question-shaped queries with real volume are exactly the questions people now ask assistants instead of search engines. Those are the highest-value prompts you can track.

Getting the most from it

  • Prefer question-shaped queries. "how to migrate from X" makes a good prompt; "pricing" does not — an assistant needs a question to answer.
  • Do not import everything. A hundred near-duplicate long-tail queries produce a hundred nearly identical answers and one blurry metric. Pick the distinct questions.
  • Drop your own brand terms. Queries containing your brand name guarantee a mention and measure nothing. Track the questions where you have to earn it.
  • Re-check periodically. New queries appear as your content changes; a quarterly pass keeps the prompt set current.

Managing the connection

  • Disconnect at any time from the same settings tab. Prompts already created stay; no new candidates are drawn.
  • One property per brand. For several markets, connect each market's property to its own brand — see Geographies & languages.
  • Access follows the Google account. If the account loses property access, reconnect with one that has it.

Troubleshooting

No properties listed. The Google account you signed in with has no verified property. Verify it in Search Console first, or connect with an account that already has access.

Connection expired. Google access is time-limited and needs re-authorising periodically. Reconnect from the same tab.

Fewer queries than expected. Search Console itself withholds low-volume and privacy-sensitive queries. What you see here is what it exposes.
