Data freshness

How often answers are refreshed, when new prompts start producing data, and what to expect in the first days of an account.

AgentMention collects answers on a schedule rather than on demand. Knowing the rhythm prevents the two most common misreadings: expecting instant data, and mistaking a collection gap for a drop in visibility.

The cycle

Prompts in scheduled groups are refreshed on a regular cycle, typically daily. Each cycle asks each enabled assistant each prompt in the enabled groups, and the resulting answers become part of the metrics for that day.

What this means in practice:

  • A new prompt produces its first data on the next cycle, not immediately.
  • A new account has a usable dashboard after the first cycle and a readable trend after one to two weeks.
  • A group with scheduling turned off stops receiving new answers; its existing data stays. See Prompts tab.

The site audits under the Report tab do not wait for any of this — run them on day one.

Missing days

A day with no answers for a prompt is excluded from that day's metrics rather than counted as an absence of your brand. This matters: a collection gap does not depress your Visibility, because the denominator only counts answers actually received.

On the trend chart this appears as a day with fewer answers behind it, not as a dip to zero.

Why numbers move without you changing anything

AI answers are not deterministic. The same prompt asked on two consecutive days can name different brands, in a different order, with different sources. This is a property of the systems being measured, not of the measurement.

The consequences for how you read the dashboard:

  • A one-day move is a sample, not a signal. Wait for the trend.
  • Small prompt sets swing hardest. With 10 prompts, one answer changing is a 10-point visibility move.
  • Compare periods, not days. 7-day and 30-day windows exist precisely to average this variance away.
